Wetsuits & Equipment
Swimmers may choose to swim in either a wetsuit or standard swimwear (known as “skins”). However, all swimmers must demonstrate their competence and experience in open water before accessing the longer course. A short swim test is required.
Wetsuit hire is available on-site, but we recommend booking in advance to ensure availability. Should swimmers choose to swim in skins a tow float must be used. These can be purchased on-site from lake control.
Please note: Sports, kayaking, or windsurfing wetsuits are not suitable for swimming. Only swimming-specific wetsuits are permitted for the long course. Swimmers in non-swimming wetsuits will be restricted to the short course for safety reasons.
Safety Requirements
To ensure all swimmers remain visible to our safety team, a brightly coloured swim cap is mandatory – acceptable colours include orange, bright green, yellow or pink - swim cap are available to purchase from lake control.
